Generation Unlimited Sierra Leone (GenU SL), an initiative spearheaded by the Ministry of Youth Affairs supported by DSTI and UNICEF, aims to develop young people’s educational and entrepreneurial portfolio, is set to launch a GENU YOUTH INNOVATION CHALLENGE.

 

The Generation Unlimited Youth Innovation Challenge calls on young innovators to design solutions to improve education/life skills and youth unemployment. The Youth Innovation Challenge is intentional in situating youth as leaders and drivers of our country’s development and provides for new structures and mechanisms to accelerate the empowerment of youth, who makeup over 40% of Sierra Leone’s population.

Eligibility
  • Your team must have at least three members, including you and no more than five members total

  • Teams are eligible that are starting to work on a new idea or project. For example, for this particular challenge young people cannot apply if:

    ➢ They have already received funding to develop the idea

    ➢ They are already a registered company or community organization

  • Every member of your team must be aged between 12 and 25 on September

    23rd 2021. We welcome diversity! We welcome diverse teams including diversity of all kinds of identity – gender, sexuality, ethnicity, disability, etc

    ➢ Every member of your team must be available to join all days of the Pre- Bootcamp workshop in December 2021

    ➢ If selected for local seed funding and mentorship, you need to be able to commit to implementing your idea, which could last until at least July 2022

    ➢ If selected for global seed funding, you need to be able to commit to ongoing implementation
