EUPSHIFT

UPSHIFT, a UNICEF global initiative, empowers youth to create positive social and economic change. The program blends youth development, social innovation, and entrepreneurship, allowing young people to identify community challenges and develop entrepreneurial solutions. It’s adaptable to various settings, offering outreach, design workshops, mentorship, and skills development like problem-solving and leadership.

UPSHIFT is part of the World Bank’s Solutions for Youth Employment Impact Portfolio, recommended for scale by Generation Unlimited. It began in Kosovo in 2014 and now operates in 38 countries, impacting hundreds of thousands of young people.

In Sierra Leone, UPSHIFT, launched in November 2021, will target 250 adolescent girls in a successful 9-month pilot project. The program will empower 20 winning teams (100 adolescent girls) with seed money for projects in over 15 communities in the Western Urban Area. It’s a powerful tool for positive change.
